Cleaning. BLAH! If your house is anything like mine, you’ll feel like you spend all day everyday cleaning and it still looks like WW3 has just happened (why oh why do people have to live here and use things?!?!).

The sheer volume of tasks is overwhelming and I feel like I have no plan, so I thought I’d use my smarts and find a good cleaning to do list to follow and keep things in check…

However, I stumbled over one particularly cleaning to-do list and almost choked. I started reading this list and laughing hysterically. I mean, does this guy do anything else with his life?

How Clean Is Too Clean?

Then I thought to myself, hang on, I am spending waaaayyyyy too much time cleaning everyday already, how much is too much, and how clean is too clean?

Many people have said this is going overboard, whilst others say that if you don’t complete all of these tasks you’d be living in filth… I feel like this guy is super organised and has it all written down making it seem a lot more than it actually is, which, back to my original point, is why I went searching for a list like this in the first place, so I could be organised and cut down on the actual amount of time I spend haphazardly cleaning….

Here is the list, we would love to know what you think!

  • Wow, this is a good list. After a day at work though the last thing i feel like is cleaning. Apart from doing the dishes after dinner. Saturday the kids help strip their bed sheets for washing, they clean a bathroom, empty bins, clean cat litter trays, tidy their rooms so i can wash the sheets and clothes and the room are tidy for a vacuum. So a bulk of the cleaning is done in 1 day when all the family helps. My kids also put their own clothes away once folded. The yearly stuff happens some years maybe not every year or bits done throughout the year. Works for our family. Our house needs to be reasonably clean as one of my children has allergies.

  • I usually clean as per necessary requirements. I always find there is a lot but I try to allocate 1 full deep clean day a week.

  • Monthly… is that whole list done in a month? Like first week, second week etc? Because normally there’s more than 4 months in a year

  • good Lord – who has time to do this? the first thing on the list – make bed – nope! I don’t see the poit in making a bed, plus it airs out the sheets. And as for the yearly things – i really can’t remember the last time i wiped down the walls of the kitchen cabinets. I admit, it’s a good idea, but i just don’t think i would get it done.

  • Unfortunately I’m unable to do much anymore. I have health problems and a back injury which leaves me in constant pain. I would love to have a spotless house but it doesn’t get too bad now as there’s only myself and my son since my husband passed away. The house is always tidy but if you look closely it’s not as clean as it used to be. I write myself a list the night before of just 3 to 4 things to do and it helps me keep on top of things though

  • I don’t clean as much as I used to as I have health problems and I have trouble being tidy like I used to and I get annoyed with myself that that I’m like it now.

  • No, I don’t. I clean bathrooms/toilets twice a week; mop and vac once a week and dust once a month or less (when I se edust forming)!!! Oh, and change bed linen fortnightly with doona covers changed monthly. That’s enough to keep on top of.

  • I would love someone to do all that list for me. Haha. It sounds like a full time job. And a house where no one messes up the cleaning thats been done.

  • I don’t have lists for cleaning but clean as is required. I try to do jobs depending on the weather. If hot, I will do a load of washing and clean outdoors. If raining, I catch up on indoor jobs. I also designate jobs to other family members and encourage them to put things back in place and clean things after using them. It seems to work at my house.

  • Seems like a reasonable list but I find lists don’t work for me. I try to work through the house each week but find i end up having to redo things like vacuum and mopping due to spills or mess and laundry every day.

  • That’s a great list.I do some of his dailys weekly although this is better then doing a super cram day of cleaning like I do.
