Cleaning. BLAH! If your house is anything like mine, you’ll feel like you spend all day everyday cleaning and it still looks like WW3 has just happened (why oh why do people have to live here and use things?!?!).

The sheer volume of tasks is overwhelming and I feel like I have no plan, so I thought I’d use my smarts and find a good cleaning to do list to follow and keep things in check…

However, I stumbled over one particularly cleaning to-do list and almost choked. I started reading this list and laughing hysterically. I mean, does this guy do anything else with his life?

How Clean Is Too Clean?

Then I thought to myself, hang on, I am spending waaaayyyyy too much time cleaning everyday already, how much is too much, and how clean is too clean?

Many people have said this is going overboard, whilst others say that if you don’t complete all of these tasks you’d be living in filth… I feel like this guy is super organised and has it all written down making it seem a lot more than it actually is, which, back to my original point, is why I went searching for a list like this in the first place, so I could be organised and cut down on the actual amount of time I spend haphazardly cleaning….

Here is the list, we would love to know what you think!

  • I actually like this list…but don’t have time everyday thats for sure

  • the list is a good break down of some of what could get done. unfortunately it doesn’t always work out that way and with kids there seems to be s much tidying up before any cleaning can even get done.

  • Wipe down inside of cabinets?! I put drawer liners in all of mine so I don’t mess them up. And why would you have to move the fridge and oven? If it’s to sweep under I guess that’s a good idea but in all honesty I think this is a bit much especially if you have a lot of young kids – it’s hard to keep up.
We’re constantly doing laundry, cooking and dishes everyday. You’d also be picking up after their mess, feeding, bathing and playing with them. What other time would you have to do a list of all these other extras?
Hubby is a shift worker so we’re a bit all over the place. He also has a habit of leaving stuff around, not washing dishes or contributing much to the housework so it’s definitely hard. Not to mention I’m working full time so if I factor in but sleeping at all I’d be able to do extra cleaning.

  • Oh it is so hard to find the time

  • I haqve a mental list of everything that needs doing daily and weekly. For additional chores that require doing monthly or less frequently, I pop them on the calendar for a suitable date in the future.

  • I do not have a list, and I tend to clean when I see it needs to be cleaned! I do have things I do once a week religiously, other than that it’s if and when!

  • No I don’t have a cleaning list. There’s stuff that I do daily, there’s stuff I try to do several times a week and there’s stuff I don’t find much time for to do

  • I do a weekly list of extra jobs which need doing.

  • I think this list is quite minimal. However with three kids (4mnths-6yrs) I’m vacuuming the loungeroom at least 3-4 a week!!

  • This list is great ! I have a similar one that I am aiming for, except mine seems to have a lot more on it. Maybe I need to scale mine back a bit !

  • Good list but I know I’d put off those yearly ones and find myself doing (or trying to do) 3 or 4 of them in one week….usually under the threat of visitors.

  • This seems like a pretty reasonable list to me and it saves on thinking about what your yearly/ monthly chores are and when to do them.

  • It’s actually not a bad list and would be good for person first leaving home.

  • we have moved to a smaller house so the monday to thursday is done in one foul swoop. My kids have to take care of their own bathroom and bed rooms (unless we have someone coming to stay and it gets a good deep clean) but the list sounds pretty reasonable
