Hello!

Hi, I have a friend who is expecting her third child.  But she has debilitating morning sickness, so much so, that with previous pregnancies she’s ended up in hospital because she can’t stomach anything.  She has two other children, a four year old in preschool and a 2 year old.  Can anyone give me some advice to what I can do to help, especially if you have been in the situation, what would be the best help for you?

  • And especially offer help with cooking meals, which can be very hard when you’re nauseous !

  • I think any practical help would be great. Offer help with the kids, the laundry, the house hold, groceries, cooking, school / child care drop off and pick up, etc

  • I hope all went well with your friend.

  • How awful for her experience. Keep hydrated.

  • Just being understanding that she feels like crap and certain foods and smells can bring it on. I had morning sickness for the whole nine months.

  • helping out with the kids and maybe a bit of housework and washing would go a long way in helping her out I would imagine.

  • I went through a very similar experience with my pregnancies :( The biggest help I found was just having company & someone to help around the house with cleaning, shopping, kids etc.

  • just looking after the kids love

  • i hope your friend feels better

  • If it is that bad she should be talking to her doctor as sometimes they can give anti-nausea tablets which might be just enough to help her to eat

  • Hope your friend was able to get through the morning sickness.

  • Try and get her to eat little bits at a time

  • Lot’s of thoughtful advice here. I’m sure she would appreciate any assistance you can give, great or small.

  • Some good advice below – hope some of it has helped.

  • Help her out or ask her family to help out as well to give her space with the kids, clean the house etc.
