Hello!

I’m a first-time pregnant mum and am very excited but my mouth seems to be in all sorts of trouble. My gums are bleeding and my front teeth hurt when I eat anything really cold. Do I need to change what I’m doing now that I’m pregnant?

  • I used Nature’s CHild organic bottom balm. It was a good everyday cream. But sometimes if my children got a bad rash, it needed the stronger stuff like sudo cream or bepanthen.

  • You probably just have to be more vigilant with cleanliness. Pregnancy does weird things to your body. I got a cavity for the first time whilst pregnant which i was not happy about. But I would also consult your dentist.

  • see your dentist and just take extra good care of your teeth.

  • I had the same problem – the dentist said even when your gums/teeth are sore make sure you still give them a good clean (on the diagonal), floss daily, and to use tooth mousse after brushing and before you go to bed. made a big difference for me.

  • Have you been to the dentist lately? They sell a topical cream/paste that you can apply to your teeth and gums that could help. Also suggest using a mouthwash several times a day. I had all sorts of problems during my pregnancy because of chronic ‘morning sickness’ throughout and both of those helped me.

  • I used a children’s toothbrush as I found them much softer

  • See your dentist early into the pregnancy.

  • I also had the same problem, I visited my dentist to get some professional advice & he recommended a sensitive toothpaste, calcium supps, a soft toothbrush and a few other things…. unfortunately I finished the pregnancy with 4 cavities…. don’t take too long before finding out the best things for you to do. …..in saying this I only know one other person that ended up with problems afterwards as most everyone else’s problems cleared up.

  • Same thing happened to me when pregnant, I used sensodyne toothpaste and a soft toothbrush, I was pretty much back to normal a week after birth.

  • I had braces put on a month before finding out I was pregnant & have had similar issues, Flossing causes bleeding, I have a cavity in my front tooth that, it’s been terrible.. Try changing toothpaste & a softer bristle brush.. Goodluck! :)

  • Had the same problem and it persisted the entire pregnancy. After the little man arrived, it cleared up a couple of weeks later. Not what you want to hear, but know you’re not alone. Just don’t brush your teeth too hard and make sure you use mouthwash.

  • Maybe buy sensitive teeth toothpaste but i’d still probably go see a dentist if i was you. Also make sure you brush regularly.

  • Best to speak to a Dentist, if I was having your problems I wouldn’t hesitate.

  • I would definitely see a dentist

  • You need to keep up ur dental hygiene. It can be hard. Try a soft brush and gentle floss and see a dentist if symptoms persist
