Article Mum bares all with her son to support public breastfeeding

A mum has stripped naked with her baby son to promote breastfeeding in public.

Julia Prudko, a former journalist who runs a PR agency in the Russian capital city of Moscow, shared the image to express solidarity with other breastfeeding mothers.

The image has gone viral after she uploaded it to Instagram, receiving over 2,400 likes and 240+ comments.

She told the Daily Mail, ‘Once I realised I was pregnant, I joined courses for mothers-to-be. As well as getting information about how my life would never be the same, I learned tons of things about breastfeeding.’

She decided to pose for a photograph – showing her and Fedor completely naked while lying on a bed – to support public breastfeeding.

She also said she does not care about the negative comments, ‘I figured there is no point in trying to convince the haters.

‘I’m happy to join the army of militant supporters. I absolutely do believe it is very very important to explain to the public that you need to feed your baby, when and where he wants to be fed.

‘You don’t have to turn into a recluse, not leaving the house. You can and should live a full life and share this colourful life with your child.’

  • Call me old fashioned, but as a mother who has breast fed both of her children (the last one having finished only a couple of months ago), I don’t see the need to flash your boobs. Absolutely women have the right to breast feed anywhere as all they are doing is seeing to their baby’s needs, however, I don’t see the need to have it all out on show. It is so easy to just buy a breast feeding cover or just use a blanket or something to cover up. Breast feeding covers are very breathable and usually flare out so that you can still see your baby. Be respectful of others who may not feel comfortable with you breast feeding in front of them. Not everyone wants to see your boobs.

    • I am with you in this. I breastfed for a year, but when it happened in public I always covered myself in some way.
      The picture is beautiful, nevertheless. 🙂

      • What a brave woman to bare all, regardless of the reason, and she did it for an awesome cause too. Not sure I could have done this, and not sure if it will raise the topic of breastfeeding, but a very brave woman nonetheless

  • You have to expose your breasts to breasfeed a baby. You need to make sure baby is latching properly for one thing.
    This photo is basically taken in the privacy of a bedroom. It could have been taken anywhere in a house. It makes no difference. She is creating a new promotion of breastfeeding, not to herself personally. What’s more nobody can say it’s pornographic. (I know how some peoples’ minds work) I don’t look at it that way.

    • I agree with your comments and well said! Breasts do need to be exposed for breast feeding and babies do not need to be hidden away – it is a normal function.

  • Nothing wrong with displaying the naked body, doing one of the tasks it was designed to do. So much pressure is placed on people these days when it comes to what they choose to do with their bodies. People need to take a chill pill and calm down a tad!
