I really like some of the cheaper brands that smoke oysters and mussels so I was hoping these would stack up in terms of taste and value. They were at a similar price point but unfortunately they lacked the good flavour and texture that I was hoping they would have.

Sadly these were very small, very soft (falling apart on the fork) and the taste just wasn’t there for me. I was disappointed because these are a regular item in my shop and I would have loved to find a more affordable replacement to our usual brand. This was the only item out of the 5 things we tried and reviewed that we didn’t like so overall I would still buy Black & Gold, just not this particular product again.

I do like smoked oysters and smoked mussels and wanted to try the Black and Gold variety. I wasn’t overly impressed with the flavour of these mussels,I feel like they were missing that bit of oomph that makes a good smoked mussel. They were really good value but I don’t think I will buy them again.
