This is a base recipe. The idea is that you can add lots of different flavours like:
– chocolate chips
– cornflakes
– chia seeds and or sesame seeds
– sultanas
– cranberries
– jam (make a dip in the middle to put the jam into)
– ginger
– orange or lemon zest
– nuts (peanuts, macadamia, walnut)
– peanut butter
– spices (nutmeg, mixed spice, cinnamon)
– smarties
– lollies (chopped)
And you can do combinations of ingredients like fruit and nut, chocolate & ginger, white chocolate & cranberry, mixed cereals (great way to finish off nearly empty packets).

Ingredients (makes 75 biscuits)

  • 500 grams butter
  • 305 grams condensed milk (1 tin)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 cups self raising flour

Method

  1. Cream together butter and sugar
  2. Add condensed milk
  3. Add sifted flour and form a dough Add flavours
  4. Roll into teaspoon sized balls and press with a fork
  5. Please on a baking tray (lined with baking paper)
  6. Bake at 180 degrees until golden brown (around 10-15 minutes)

Notes

You can also freeze this dough so it is great to make in larger quantities to use later. After adding the flaourings roll the dough into a log (about 4cm thick). Roll into a sheet of baking paper, then cling wrap. Mark what flavour it is and put on a flat surface in the freezer. When you want to use it cut from frozen the number of biscuits you want (about 4mm thick) and bake as per fresh.
