These bread pockets (or Bread Rockets as the kids affectionally call them) are a great lunchbox recipe as well as an impressive party food option!

This recipe uses the NEW Wonder® 5 Star Soft White. You can also get Wonder® 5 Star Soft Multigrain, with the same great Wonder® taste you know and love. Both have a 5 Star Health Rating.

It’s the best thing since … ever!

Wonder® 5 Star is available across Woolworths and Coles stores nationally and selected IGA stores.

Families love Wonder® 5 Star and have rated it 4.77/5! Read the reviews.

Ingredients

  • 12 Wonder® 5 Star bread slices
  • 2 Eggs, well beaten
  • Bread crumbs
  • Fillings and sauce of your choice
  • Oil for frying

Method

  1. Take two slices of Wonder 5 Star bread slices and flatten them together using a rolling pin.
  2. Cut a circle using a circle cookie cutter.
  3. Dip this in the egg mixture and roll in the bread crumbs.
  4. Heat oil and deep fry until golden brown.
  5. Cut in half to reveal the pocket! Add your desired fillings. You can be extremely creative with the filling, to make it fancy you can add in shredded cheese too.

  • What a great idea and extremely easy. I love recipes that don’t demand new ingredients that I will have to purchase extra. This recipe seems easy and I already have all the ingredients. Thanks for sharing and I will definitely try this out. My kids will love it. Can’t wait

  • I really do like this clever and creative recipe using a small amount of easy to access ingredients. I do like being able to use a variety of different fillings. A plate of these bread pockets would look so good served up on a lunch time platter with some tasty sides and sauces.

    • Thank you. It is such an easy but party best recipe. People usually do not find out it’s made out of bread ????

  • Wow this is so creative and clever!! I’ve never thought to make a pita style bread out of sliced bread. I’ll absolutely be trying this. I wonder how they turn out if you pan fry, it’s very rare I feel fry anything. But I’m sure you miss out on the super crunch deep frying achieves.

    • Hi, don’t worry, oil does not get absorbed in it and you do not need to fry for longer, as the bread is already cooked you just to wait until the bread crumbs are cooked through. Try and you will deffa love it ????
