I thought I would experiment to see if the Airfryer could cook a toasted sandwich and it sure can. It does not look very toasted but everything was and it had that perfect crunch a toasty should have.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 slice of tasty cheese
  • 4 slices of tomato
  • margarine & pepper

Method

  1. Make your cheese and tomato sandwich and butter the outside lightly with margarine or butter.
  2. Set the Aifryer to 5 minutes and place it on 180deg Place sandwich in and cook
  3. At roughly 4 minutes, pull tray out quickly butter more margarine on the top and push drawer back in until time is up.

  • Oh gosh…..why did I not think of this?

  • what can’t the air fryer do?

    • I would say most things but stay away from any meat that has maranade as it can become very smoky.

  • We love toasted sandwiches and sometimes we pan-fry them coz they are so darned nice done that way. I don’t have any airfryer, but I’ve got a Turbo oven with 2 racks, so I’ll try the sandwiches in that next time and see how they turn out. Thanks for the idea.

  • I don’t have an air fryer, but as it fries then if you did not butter bread it would crisp up regardless?? worth a try maybe!

    • I think if the butter was not added the bread would be dry just like if you pan fried without butter or margarine.
