Cheese Souffle is a easy and simple snack food or side dish that compliments many other foods. The flavor is great for both children and adults alike and quite healthy

Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 and a half tablespoons freshly grated gruyere cheese
  • 5 eggs
  • tea spoon salt
  • to taste ground black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees. Butter the sides of a souffle dish, coat the butter with 1 tablespoon of the Parmesan cheese.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan and add flour and simmer stirring for two minutes, add the milk gradually, continue stirring, bring the mixture to the boil then reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes
  3. Remove from heat and let cool a little before stirring in gruyere cheese and remaining Parmesan cheese and the eggs. season with pepper and salt to taste and mix well.
  4. Put the souffle mixture into the souffle dish and cook in the oven for 25 minutes. when cooked properly the middle with me risen and brownish and shouldnt feel like liquid. serve easily by dipping serving spoons into hot water

Notes

This was from my grandmothers personal cookbook which i draw on every now and then. it is great if you need to increase your calcium and dairy intake and for children of all ages to enjoy
