This delicious chocolate loaf is made with zucchini and carrot to make a moist and rich chocolate bread.

  • 1 Tspn Baking Soda
  • 1/4 Tspn Baking Powder
  • 1 Tspn Salt
  • 1 Tspn Cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 Cup Grated Zucchini
  • 1/2 Cup Grated Carrot
  • 3 Eggs
  • 2/3 Cup Yoghurt
  • 1/3 Cup Canola or Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Vanilla
  • 1/2 Cup Choc Chips (Optional)

  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees. Spray 2 bread tins with oil.
  2. In large bowl, whisk dry ingredients (excluding choc chips).
  3. In another bowl, whisk wet ingredients.
  4. Slowly add wet ingredients to dry stirring with spatula until combined. Stir in choc chips.
  5. Pour mixture evenly into two loaf tins.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Freezer Friendly, if you slice once cooled and wrap individually you can grab as you go. Defrost in microwave for 45-60 seconds or let thaw.

  • Will certainly be trying this recipe out. I used to make a zucchini cake in the microwave but I’ve lost that recipe.

  • Love great ideas for disguising zucchini. Thank you

  • I would love to try this recipe.

  • What a great change from banana bread. Thanks for sharing the recipe :)

  • Hmmm I wonder if my son would like this…

  • Honestly I’ve never tried these sorts of cakes or loaves before but I love that it has chocolate and hidden veg! I’ll have to try it one day.

  • How delicious does it look in the pic?! So rich and chocolatey yum yum yum

  • The added veggies are nice ! I would use wholemeal or brown spelt flour instead of refined flour and maple syrup/ coconut palm syrup/ yacon syrup instead of sugar

  • I’d love to give this a try- just don’t tell kids or hubby what’s in it!

  • This definitely looks worth trying on my kids.

  • Interesting. I wonder what this tastes like. Does the chocolate overpower the veggies?

  • Stealth veggies, I love this ! Recipe printed out to try this weekend, thanks for sharing!

  • Loaf cakes are the best! They are so easy to slice and pack. A delicious combination of ingredients for a loaf cake.

  • I love zucchini in a cake! It makes it so moist! (Plus hidden goodness for the whole family, especially the three who don’t like zucchini!)

    • I suspect it is a choc loaf that is delicious when warmed a little.

  • I need to make it! It looks so yummy! It will be my bub afternoon tea tomorrow!
