Tastes like the real thing! A great treat for the family
Ingredients (serves 4)
- 3 cups SR Flour
- 1 Small carton Buttermilk
- 4 Chicken Breast cut into large chunks
- 2 tsp Paprika
- 2 tsp Onion salt
- 1 tsp Dried sage
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Oregano
- 1 tsp Cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp Cracked black pepper
- 1 tsp Dried basil
- oil For frying
Method
- Place the chicken in a container and cover with buttermilk. (Reserve at least 4 TBS)
- Marinate at least 3-4 hours or better still, overnight
- Mix the flour and the spices together with a fork
- Add 3 TBS of buttermilk and mix with a fork until flour has a clumpy breadcrumb texture.
- Remove chicken from the buttermilk and immediately place into the flour mixture
- Coat the chicken well on both sides
- Heat the oil to 170 degrees or until a small piece of bread bubbles when placed into the oil
- Fry until golden brown and cooked through (I always fry one piece to test it and get the cooking time right)
