These chocolate croissants are great little snacks for morning or afternoon tea and also great for the kids lunchbox!

Ingredients (serves 8)

  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • Nut Free Chocolate Spread
  • Dash Milk

Method

  1. Cut puff pastry sheets into 4 squares (8 in total)
  2. Place a teaspoon full of chocolate spread in the centre of the pastry and roll into a croissant shape. Squeeze edges together.
  3. Baste a little milk on the top of each croissant. Bake at 180 until pastry is golden and cooked through.

Notes

Nut Free Chocolate Spread can be found in the health food aisle of the supermarket and is also low in sugar.

  • We often do this with a homemade nutfree chocolate spread. Very easy to make in the processor
2 cups raw sunflower seeds, toasted / roasted in the oven
    1 tsp raw vanilla powder
    1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup coconut palm syrup / yacon syrup / rice malt syrup / honey / maple syrup
    1/4 teaspoon Himalayan sea salt
2-3 teaspoons coconut oil, optional (for extra smoothness)
    1/2 cup coconut milk

  • Yum and easy for the kids to make. Will have a look out for that nut free spread.

    • Coles sells a chocolate spread from Pureharvest, it’s called Coco2 in different flavours, the Original is a coconut cacao spread and has no nuts.
