An easy convenient puree for young children.

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 200 grams pumpkin
  • 1 apple
  • 1/4 cup water

  1. Place the peeled and chopped pumpkin into a saucepan and just cover with water.
  2. Bring to the boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 10 minutes, then add peeled and chopped apple and continue to simmer until both are nice and tender.
  3. Drain, reserving a little of the liquid. Puree, using the liquid to achieve a smooth, runny consistency.

I often make this puree for my youngest and she loves it!

  • Apple and pumpkin are a sweet combination. Maybe add peas or parsnip to cut through the sweet

  • Sounds sweet.

  • Thanks for sharing Mum of 5 darlings :) ! Pumpkin is a beautiful vegetable. I made often a mash with carrot, pumpkin and garlic roasted and then added a bit of spinach

  • Sound delightful, tasty and also nutritious.

  • Don’t like the idea of mixing fruit with pumpkin, and they can be both very sweet. I think sweet potato is a good option too. Teaching babies to have mono meals they get to learn the taste of individual things rather than mixing up.

  • Might as well be a soup sounds good

  • very sweet baby puree option

  • Great flavours combination there, be so sweet.

  • They will sure get yumminess in their tummy

  • Loving the combination of apple and pumpkin…

  • I put apple in everything for my bubs and now they won’t eat veg.. Still apple and other fruits are good for them.

  • Apple and pumpkin make a sweet combination. Need to add some more savoury veggies I think

  • My daughter loves this variation! I also make apple and sweet potato, she loves that too!

  • Great easy recipe for bubs.
