These Savoury Rolls are perfect for kids parties, lunchboxes or even as finger food.

Ingredients

  • 4 Sheets Pampas Puff Pastry
  • 500 grams Beef Mince (can use another meat if you prefer)
  • 1 Large Carrot, grated
  • 1 Large Potato, grated
  • 1 small Onion, grated
  • 1 packet Continental Chicken Noodle Soup ( 40 grams dry powder mix)
  • 50 grams Tasty Cheese, grated
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • Sesame Seeds

Method

  1. Pre-heat oven to 175 degrees, fan forced. Remove puff pastry sheets from package & allow to defrost.
  2. Place mince in bowl. Add grated carrot, potato, & onion to bowl. Season with salt & pepper. Mix until well combined
  3. Divide mince mixture into four equal amounts & spread evenly over each sheet of puff pastry. Sprinkle powdered chicken noodle soup & cheese evenly over mince mixture.
  4. Roll each pastry sheet up like a swiss roll.
  5. Place rolls on to a greased oven tray leaving the exposed edge on the bottom of the roll. Slash the tops of each roll every 3-4 cm.
  6. Baste the pastry rolls with egg & sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes.

  • These look great, and I think my kids would even eat these, even with the carrot and onion.

  • Adding the chicken noodle soup powder is a good idea! Might have to give these a try. Thanks 🙂

  • made this with a bit of honey and soy brushed on top. Ends up looking the same and gives the roll a nice little sweet hit that everyone loves. (and it’s my secret ingredient)

  • Just know that chicken noodle soup mix contains msg. I would never recommend feeding that to kids. The recipe could easily be adapted by leaving that out and adding some good quality Celtic or Himalayan rock salt.

  • This sounds like something my kids might actually eat (if I leave out the onion and grate the veggies small enough)! I’m going to give it a go!
