Ingredients (serves 4)

  • 500g Premium Mince
  • 1 med Brown Onion
  • 3 gloves Garlic
  • 250gm Tomato Paste
  • 2 tbl Plain Flour
  • 2 tbl Raw Sugar
  • 2 cubes Chicken Stock
  • 11/2 Cups Water
  • 500g Muchrooms
  • 1 teaspn Italian Herbs
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Saute Onion and Garlic until Onion Cooked.
  2. Add Mince - Cook to brown
  3. Add Chicken Stock cubes Sugar - Stir and fry till sugar has disolved
  4. Add Plain flour and coat all ingredience, Add Tomato Paste and Combine
  5. Add water to desired thickness of Bolognaise Sauce
  6. Toss in Mushrooms and Italian Herbs
  7. Cover and simmer for about 1 hour. Cook Spaghetti and serve

  • Is there anyone who doesn’t have a favored recipe for spaghetti bolognaise? Even vegetarians usually have a variation. It’s one of the first things most people learn to cook. (In my house we taught the kids scrambled eggs and then spag bol!) This sounds like a great variation to mix things up. Thanks.

  • This is a good recipe as the sugar neutralises the acidity of the tomatoes and the vegetable stock adds salt and background flavour to the dish bringing together all the tastes.

  • Yum. This is probably the most favourite meal in our house. I make a very yummy version that is similar to the recipe above, but with a greater mix of (hidden!) vegies. Feeling a bit hungry for it right now!
