A lovely spicy red sauce which goes great with most meats especially chicken.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chilli
  • 1 cup red capsicum
  • 1 onion
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. Steralise jars ready for bottling.
  2. Remove the seed from the chilli and chop finely.
  3. Remove seeds from the capsicum and dice.
  4. Remove skin from the onion and dice.
  5. Peel and core the apple. Dice.
  6. In a big pot dissolve the sugar in the vinegar over low heat. Add the salt. Add the chilli, capsicum, onion and apple.
  7. Bring to boil and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir constantly.
  8. Partly cool and blend.
  9. Bottle while still warm.

Notes

I've also made this sweeter and less spicy by adding tomatoes - it is very adjustable to your taste.

  • Nice. I was expecting to see tomato but capsicum sounds delish!

  • I’d love to try and make this so that I had something else to use some of the hundreds of chillis that I’ve got growing in the garden.
