Hi everyone I was wondering how people feel with the story on the news when a few people said $200,000 wasn’t enough for them as its living pay check to pay check, me personal $200,000 for me would mean no worrying were the next meal would come from etc, cause of how sick I am I am unable to work so my partner and I live off $480 each a fortnight before everything comes out, my partner can’t work either as he has not long ago had neck surgery (we both have had neck surgery plus for me other things). It’s hard. But I treasure all I have in my home from the littlest things to the biggest things do they?

  • We are a one income household. Money can make things extremely difficult

  • Yep, I love hearing this one too. And politicians saying they can’t understand why pensioners claim to not be able to live on the old age pension. And the average weekly income for an Australian is double what my hubby earns

  • Oh gosh $200,000 would be a dream come true!

    • Oh yeah it would mean for a long time I wouldn’t need to worry about the next meal or missing medication so we could eat

  • All people need to learn to live within there means, and I’ll tell ya $200,000 would be like winning the lottery every week. How can you not live on this?

    • That’s it it would be like winning lottery at this moment due to ill health I only get $13,520 a year

  • I know what you mean, it seems crazy to struggle on that. But with more money you make different choices… so bigger mortgage, bigger car loan or costs, potentially more hours at work so more cost on takeout, more money on clothes to keep up with perception. I assume you forget to live simple. It’s crazy but I see how they say it.

  • I guess everyone situations are different. If we had that large amount of money, it would make life do much easier

  • for me that amount would mean our house is paid off in full plus more… how could people who have more than others complain about what is a lot of money to others,,, If only we could all recieve that amount of money dreams could come true for a lot of people. People who have it all always find something to complain about. But thoose who do not are thankful for what little they have… Its just wrong.

  • It depends on your circumstances , goals and outlook . Sadly if you want to buy your own home , it is not enough even though it sounds plentiful. However appreciating what you have makes you a much happier person . So Yes :)

  • I think that is more than enough,l don’t know their life-style but for us personally that’s plenty!

  • It does depend – if you’ve got a child with a significant disability, for example, the costs can be huge.

    • The costs for families can be huge and equipment, services and technology can be ridiculously expensive.

  • It is difficult to comment as everyone’s situation is different and there are so many factors at play. I think generally people are pretty good at making it work with what they have but no doubt that regardless of where someone sits on the income scale we’d all be happier with a little bit more.

  • It does depend on take home pay and expenses and the number of children in a household. Housing costs in some places is extraordinarily expensive. The cost of living is going up and many people are in distress, premiums go up and many families do the best they can to manage from pay check to pay check. Across the spectrum, affordability for all expenses needs to be re-addressed.
