Hello!

My son attends our local State School, he is 10 and is currently in year 5. Since Prep I noticed that he was different from the other children and it has only been recently that I have finally got a diagnoses after six years. My son has Tourettes which unfortunately makes him a target for ongoing bullying. On Anti Bullying Day earlier at the end of last term we were encouraged to wear an orange shirt to promote awareness & discourage bullying in our schools. Even on this day my son was bullied for wearing an orange shirt, among other things. Kids can be really cruel, I encourage all parents to educate their children in the home regarding bullying and its effects on others.

  • Kids sure are so cruel. And it’s hard to pick why a certain kid is singled out. It’s not just the fat kid of the kid with glasses or the smart kid. Now, they can be pretty, smart, sporty……and still become a target

  • If only it were that easy. There’s so much in the media, schools have anti bullying policies..yet bullying is still so prevalent. It scares me

  • That’s awful! Has the school done anything to help resolve this for your son?
