Hello!

Well, I have fianlly done it and boy am I struggling. After many years of working afternoons and nights only whil my partner was home to care for the kids, and spending days while they were at school doing the usual housework, shopping bill paying etc, I have now gone onto day work. See, my partner (or should I say now ex partner) moved out in January. I am on my own with 2 kids at home aged 17 and 8. My 8yo has Combined type ADHD, OCD< ODD and some form of emotional dysregulation resulting in anxiety issues. She keeps me busy constantly. Not wanting to have to leave her with anyone else (which would be a nightmare as she refuses to leave mummy unless its for school), I have started a day job. I leave for work half hour after dropping the kids off and finish in time to pick them up from school. This leaves me no time to dao much around the house and none at all for the shopping and other things without the kids. I have to admit I am struggling to keep up with everything as my 8yp only sleeps from 11pm to 7am. Not a lot gets done when she is sleeping because I am way too tired, Thinking maybe of scaling back to 3 or 4 days so I at least get some time??

  • Phew, just reading your story has made me tired! Good for you, mans a mum, you’ll always find a way to do what’s best for your kids. Just don’t forget to take time out for yourself

  • yes be organised. So much easier to say than to do but it will help. yes my child helps out with housework. Age appropriate jobs and she gets rewards lol

  • Ask your 17 to help you out with housework and some cooking and maybe doing the washing. At 17 they should be able to do alot for you
