Hello!

Well, we just experienced our first “reaction” to NUTS!

Thankfully was a minor reaction and not major (Anaphylaxis).

We are now waiting to visit the Allergy Clinic and told this could be a 12-24 month wait.

So until then, we need to avoid nuts and all foods that may contain traces of nuts. The difficult part is, my child has a disability and a very poor eater (50% OFF the growth chart) and removing foods they already eat and change their diet is going to be difficult .. how to maintain his weight gain and food intake will be hard. Any ideas please.

  • One of my work friend’s little son had nuts (almonds) at a friends place one day. An hour or so later his voice went deeper than normal and quite croaky. It is a sign of Anaphylaxis. They took him to hospital, they treated and observed him for a few hours. They then told his Mum that he could be getting a cold or virus. 3 days later he went down with a bad cold.

  • Supply lots of different varieties of foods. Fresh, frozen, packaged. Even foods you don’t like it you think he won’t like. Try it all til you find something that fits. Good luck

  • Maybe you can go back to giving him food in puree or broth type? easier to eat up?
