Hiya all, this will be a hard Christmas for our family. Dad is in Heaven. He was such a big part of all our lives and loved this time of year. If you have been in a similar situation, how did you cope, and help your family get through it?

  • Maybe next Christmas try to get a Christmas Ball with his name or something similar and hang it on your Christmas Tree or somewhere else where it won’t get damaged… Another thought is a special star. Some large supermarkets have stalls that do them. Suggest you look around because at one large shopping complex there was two places you could buy the ball and get it done. Onr place was double the price of the other one.

  • yeah it is so hard, the first one is the most awkward. try to do something nice to represent them like set a place at the table. As long as your family sees it as a sign of respect, not madness lol.

  • This will be the 6th Christmas without my dad. I didn’t have a lot to do with him in later years, so he’s not really missed. Hope things aren’t too bad for you and that you remember him with a smile instead of tears

  • Stay strong – it isn’t easy. Just for clarification, is it your dad, or the dad of your children? Both are sad and take a long to really cope with. Seek support from family and friends.

    • My Dad – he was a real father figure for my son too x

  • We toast those that have passed at Christmas lunch and it is a way to honour and remember them.
