The dreaded dinner time is here and you’re struggling in the kitchen with 3 young kids whining at your legs, dinner is taking longer than you expected, you have dirty bowls and pans all over the place! it’s not that you don’t like cooking but, oh my, you’re brain is mush by the end of the day and you just can’t cope with the kids whinging and crying and complaining anymore!
I have 3 quick and easy to to’s at the moment that are super cheap and quick to make, and they are also fairly kid friendly. All of them can be altered to suit what you like.
Tuna pasta.
Ingredients:
1 large can of tuna
3/4 packet of pasta
1 jar of Tomato pasta sauce
1 can of baked beans in the sauce
1 large pan
Water
Optional to serve on top:
Pesto
Parmesan
Method:
Boil the pasta until cooked, drain and add the pasta sauce, baked beans and tuna. Cook until hot on low heat, stir continually so it doesn’t burn on the bottom of the pan.
This will feed a family of 4 – 6
Veggie tomato soup
Ingredients:
2 cans of 525g of tomato soup (I used Heinz’s classics creamy tomato)
2 cups of water
500g of frozen veggies (or cut up fresh if preferred)
200g of pasta of your choice (I like a smaller pasta like macaroni or shell)
1 large pan
Optional to serve on top:
Parmesan
Pesto
Method:
Add everything except pasta to a large pan and heat on stove top to a boil then turn heat down and simmer. When everything is cooked (10-20 minutes), add the pasta for 8 minutes (was ou could add more water if it has thickened too much) and then serve.
This will feed a family of 4-6
Mexican wraps
Ingredients:
A can of flavoured mexican style beans
Veggies of choice
Wraps
Sour cream
Avocado
Method:
Heat beans as can defections say.
Cut up salad veggies like cucumber, tomato, lettuce, even zucchini and corn would be nice.
Load up the wrap with the heated Mexican beans salad veggies, sour cream and avocado.
Hope this helps some mums/dads in need of some quick, easy simple dinners that everyone will enjoy!
