Hello!

A while ago I googled the official advice about daily consumption of sugar, fats, proteins etc. and found a site http://daa.asn.au/for-the-public/smart-eating-for-you/nutrition-a-z/daily-intake-guide/ that recommended 90gm of sugar for an average adult (some would need more or less). I lived with that for a while until my kids showed me the “That sugar Movie” and after seeing it I concluded that 90gm per day sounded like way too much. I’ve since found other estimates that suggest it’s more like 25gm – and given the sugars found in foods like fruits, milk, etc. that leaves little or no room for added sugar in the foods and sauces and drinks that we might eat. Do you think you have too much sugar? How much do you think you consume?

  • I’m pretty sure I Quit Sugar and That Sugar Movie support the WHO recommendations of no more than 6 tsp sugar per day. Which means we are all consuming an awful lot of sugar if you aren’t aware of what you’re eating. We have thrown out tomato sauce and lots of other condiments because they are full of sugar (we make our own now) and take care buying tinned tomatoes as some brands add a lot of sugar into them. If you tend to buy processed things they are your main culprit so be aware of the ingredients before you put them in your shopping trolley.
