Hello!

Both my children have had issues with their teeth since a very young age as they have no enamel on their teeth and very deep grooves. Today my son went in for his second operation on his teeth and is currently resting with an icy pole.

We left home at 5am this morning for the drive to the day surgery hospital to be greeted by a plether of happy nurses in bright uniforms and even brighter smiles. They then put the numbing cream on his hands and we had to wait until 8.30 for his appointment (no breakfast, no water, no anything).

They then went about and gave him a colouring in book and pencils, and showed us to a room with a box of toys and books right next to the line of beds. They were so fantastic.

Once in theatre they got out a pirate balloon and blew it up for his bed as he drifted off to sleep, then they escorted me to the waiting room for real coffee and something to eat. He woke up from recovery and has done really well, but by far the nurses, dentist and anesthetist really deserve the applause for being so wonderful for our whole stay and I have a happy little boy who still wants to go to the dentist :)

  • That’s so fantastic that they were very professional and made your son feel comfortable and he was happy. This is so important when visiting any dentist or orthodontist. It makes the whole experience for our child/ren and ourselves positive and rewarding. My daughter has been seeing an Orthodontist and they have also been great!

  • What a brave boy . My son has a supernumerary teeth and needs to be monitored and a dead nerve on another tooth . We are going with an operation to remove the Supernumerary after his hsc ( 2 years time ) so just need to be monitored now as not considered urgent . What a complex situation for teeth !

  • At least you have found wonderful and caring dental practitioners, I’m sure my childhood dentist was really a vet.

  • It sounds like they are very much aware of how scary it could all seem. They sound wonderful.

  • Health professionals seriously need more recognition than they get. My daughter had her first operation on her 1st birthday and they looked after me just as well as her. Well done to all the nurses and health professionals out there and thank you!
