Hello!

I have a tiled area that I sometimes mop with a basic long handled mop (the type with a bundle of thick loose cords/strings and nothing else, but similar problems exist with the sponge head mops that you can squeeze out with a mechanism on the mop head). The mop basically doesn’t clean! I always end up getting down on hands and knees with a cloth and rubbing off stains. The basic mop doesn’t allow the ‘pressure’ or elbow grease that stains need and the sponge mop is slightly better makes me work even harder (applying force at the end of the stick) rather than scrubbing closer to the spot. Does anyone else find mopping floors actually works? If so what is the secret?!

  • I use boiling hot water with a string mop and it cleans very well indeed.

    • Also, a floor cleaner to suit your floors.

  • I do mop my floor with that kind of mop and it turns out clean most of the time,, But i do have to only use boiling hot water straight out of the kettle otherwise if its from the tap its not hot enough and leaves the floor all streaky.. I also have tile through most of the house and have to change the water about three times while mopping.. .. I also add a tiny bit of metho to the water and it comes up a treat..
