We went for our baby’s first swimming lesson today. He was so excited to see such a lot of water that he started screaming with a big big smile on his face. It was so much fun to see him like that. When he went inside the pool…that is, i held him in the water, he started splashing water everywhere…. we had so much fun today…wowwwwwiiiieeee

  • Ours didn’t go in the pool alone with the teacher until she was 3. The teacher let her take her own liitle duck in the pool with her – it was something of hers she was familiar with. She is very lucky because she is booked in as a group lesson he is mostly the only student so he gets more individual attention. He finds the water too cold so she wears a rashie swimsuit over her bathers, otherwise she goes blue. She doesn’t like her head too far down into the water. I suspect she doesn’t like the water in her ears.

  • I used to take my son to baby swimming, and we loved it. But then he got to 2 and a half and he had to go with an instructor instead. He hated me not being in the water with him and just screamed through the whole lesson. Si we took him out and now take him weekly to our aquatic centre and teach him ourselves. He lives swimming.

  • That’s so good! It’s so important to learn to swim well here in Australia. The earlier you start, the better.

    • I agree – it is essential to learn to swim.

  • The simple joy of water play! Babies do know how to enjoy themselves in water. A lesson every adult should learn! ;) Have fun and play like a kid! :)
