Hello!

I just finished watching the news and was so delighted to watch two different stories about girls and women in sport. The girls in the first story said they loved being strong and the thrills of their sport and the women showed their toughness and competitiveness. I was so impressed with the attitudes and the positive attitude towards sport and in enjoying being healthy and in grasping life and making the most of it.

  • There was a few ladies competing in motorsport in the 1970s, including in some of the “lower” category open wheelers. There has been ladies in HQ Holdens. In another case the lady’s Dad and Uncle had previously raced cars. We currently have one lady in what used to be called the Dunlop Development Series. We have Leanne Tander in Formula Ford (open wheeler), GT cars this year, and prior to that she had driven at Bathurst as a co-driver.

  • Females are strong and lifting sporting profiles is a good thing.

  • I’m loving watching the women’s afl on tv at the moment. It’s so good for pit daughters to see they really can be anything

  • It is looking far more positive for girls/women in sport at the moment. Perhaps one of the few areas in which it is improving for women.
