During these unprecedented times of COVID19, it has forced all of us to do things differently. I for one have missed the ability to see my grandkids. I have 6 of them ranging in age from 4 months to 6 years and miss them all terribly. In order to keep connected, I have sent them all a little parcel and a hand written letter to let them know that grandma misses them. Three of the grandkids are from my adult children and the other 3 from my partners. The one difference here is the response when they received their things. My children were always brought up to pick up a phone and thank whoever bought them something and thats exactly what happened. I received a FaceTime video on those occasions where the kids opened their goody box over the internet so that I could see. This brought so much joy to both parties. The other grandkids from my partners side…… nothing!!!
I find this very disappointing as i don’t even know if they received it and secondly, I don’t think it is teaching them to be grateful and to offer thanks
Maybe Im just old fashioned but I think its just the right thing to do! As parents its the right thing to teach our children and it only takes a minute.
