Some long-time moms on this site may remember a story I told over a year ago about our little King Charles Cavvie being diagnosed with a heart condition and not given long to live. Sadly on Australia Day he died playing happily in our backyard. He really was a determined little guy and didn’t give up easily and lasted so much longer than we could have expected.
We are heart-broken as he was definitely part of our family and very loved by all of us. Although we knew it would happen, we still were shocked by the suddeness of his going. Jesse will be missed every day and we will always love him and remember his cute, loyal and enthusiastic personality.
I’d like to tell other moms considering pups for their families to be very careful who you buy them from. We bought Jesse from a registered breeder, but did not know that cavvies are prone to this condition. I now know that some breeders screen for it and hopefully are breeding healthier pups. We need to eliminate bad breeding practices and the only way is by not buying pups from breeders who are only in it to make money, but by finding responsible breeders who actually care about their animals.
Having said all that, I wouldn’t change anything about Jesse. He was the cutest, most loving dog in the world and it is our loss that he is gone. He gave us so much pleasure and love. He is the little dog at the beach in my username photo.
