Hello!

So, only a few weeks ago, my partner would have to wake me up before going to work just before 8am. The kids wouldn’t be dressed or fed, lunches and bags wouldn’t be packed and ready to go.
Well, since starting some new medications, I have been waking up around 6:30am, and since everything has been going great at work for my partner, he is now happily waking up at 5am, and getting the kids dressed and fed, and their lunches and bags packed and ready to go. So literally all I do when I wake up is have a coffee and my medication and take them to school when its time.
Sounds great right? Ahhh, yea, well it would be if it wasn’t so damned boring!!
Waiting for 2 hours to take my eldest to school, and my 2nd born to Kindy 2/3 days a week, and my younger 2 to daycare 2 days a week is exhausting and tiring me out already.
I am so grateful I have an amazing partner who is doing everything for me!! Think I might start a morning activity with the kids. Would anyone have any suggestions?!
Oh well, at least I get that added bit of time with my kiddos now, that is DEFINITELY a bonus =) Mornings are so much more relaxed!!

  • Maybe you could get the kds to help you with a simple job – sorting washing, tidying a room – get a bit ahead on something!

  • yeah you must be so busy! i hate having to deal with school drop off’s. I think that having the kids at home for an extra day would be good for you. i bet that you would love the time with them and they grow up so quickly! As much as it is tiring and crazy and all that, it goes by soooo quick! Do what you think is best and you can alter things anytime if you need to!

  • It’s so nice that your husband is helping you in this difficult moment. Now you just have to find something relaxing to do with the kids for those 2 hours. Reading books together, maybe some colouring in? You could buy a colouring book for adults for yourself and give some kids’ colouring book to the kids. While colouring together the time flies by!!

    • That is another great idea!! I actually bought an adult colouring in book, but ended up having to put it away as there really wasn’t enough time beforehand… Might pull it out =) I also remember with my stepmum on finding colouring in pictures to print out when I was a little younger, so could also do that with them!!

  • A supportive partner is good and now you can also focus on activities. What do your kids like doing – ask them and follow their lead on activities.

  • Thank you heaps for those suggestions!! Those ideas are actually quite helpful!! We do my year 1 child’s home readers usually but that only lasts like 5-10 minutes lol. The sock sorting seems like a fantastic idea!!

  • Sounds like your life has had quite a bit of turmoil – glad things are on the improve. I found activities that are easily stopped are great for the morning – reading aloud is excellent, especially if you can do character voices. I sometimes get mine to do a small special craft activity for grandparents, if its not too messy! Its also a great time to get kids involved with odd jobs like sock sorting – not too onerous and can be a bit of fun to fill in a few minutes, especially if you make it into a game.
