Is it better to live in a house or apartment with a baby? Sure, a house has all that extra space for the little one to roam about, but apartment is usually a lot warming in winter and cooler in summer, and also safer from outside harms such as traffic, break-ins and abduction etc., not to mention more convenient in terms of access of schools, transport and shops etc. Then again you can do whatever you like with a house and make it truly yours without having to ask for approval for every nail you pin on the wall. Does it really make a difference to the baby’s development I wonder?

  • Not sure about development, but having moved from apartment to house just over 6 months ago I can’t recommend it enough in terms of freedom to play and general happiness. The budget is the only thing that’s suffered.

  • I don’t think it makes a huge difference where you live. It’s more about your actions and love towards your baby that makes the difference.

  • I think as long as your child has access to outside play, it shouldn’t matter whether you live in a house or apartment.

We are a family of four.We live in a two bedroom unit and I can honestly say that my boys -now aged 18 and 13-have had a wonderful upbringing in a cosy environment. Admitably, there were times that I would have loved to been in a house, then I remind myself that I should never let the things I want
make me forget the things I have.

  • I think as long as you are loving your child it doesn’t much matter where you live. I guess something to consider would be whether you have access to parks and walkways etc if you have an apartment, just to make sure you can get out and about and get your vitamin d fix. Houses have yards and more space, but they also come with more work and maintenance.
