Hello!

I read this on a t-shirt once and it was worn by a young adult. I have never forgotten it.
She obviously meant her boyfriend or someone’s boyfriend.

Sometimes I think about it with parenting. Parenting is all or nothing. There is not often an in-between. Unless you count work. And for most part, work is not leisure, it is a necessity.
When you get that break, you are wondering whether to knock a few jobs on the head or just relax.

I am home most nights of the week with my children. My husband may be home late from a meeting or work drinks. I don’t have that luxury and that is fine. Tonight I am between work and dinner and I miss my family so much!

Part of me wants to go home and be with them, the other part says “Hey, you’re out, enjoy, make the most of it.!’ Luckily the latter part will win and I will have a fabulous time at dinner.

My children are a piece of me and when I am away from them, a piece of me is missing.

  • So hear you… Our children were literally apart of us mums once =P I hope you did enjoy your night out and have had another night out, or 2, or a few since =) Every mum deserves a break!!
I have heard this saying before.
Bit of a funny, my partner use to work away 2 weeks and was home 1 week. Well for the past year he has been home every night (well, mostly), and my oh my I wish he was working away again!! =P he is driving me up the wall lmao, I wish he would work away again so I could miss him bahahaha

  • I can totally relate to that. We create them and they become a part of us. Our lives are intricately intertwined. I love my kids so much and just can’t imagine life without them, even if I do think I need a break

  • I so want to go out with my friends and I haven’t done that since having my baby 9 months ago. I feel guilty even thinking about it……but this article made me think….Thanks for sharing it.

  • What a powerful statement and one we can all relate to in one way or another. I hope in the end you did have a wonderful night

  • It is so true in the case of your children – they are never truly away as they are a part of you

  • Yes, I’ve often laughed at that slogan (I don’t think it’s exclusively aimed at boyfriends).

  • I miss my family when I am not with them too. Lucky for me it’s not often

  • It is normal to miss kids; but also good to do other things too.

    • Agreed. It’s nice to other things besides mothering sometimes.

  • I totally agree with you. I miss my kids when I have to leave them which is not often but still. I guess that’s where the saying absence makes the heart fonder :)
