Hubby thinks I’m mad as it was raining last night and we are on tank water so this is the best time to wash. Well I went out in the rain and hung out a basket full of clothes ,, as I call it the extra rinse cycle from the gods but I put the lighter things like under ware and pj’s in the dryer which I have not used for ages .. to dry and at the same time warm the house up a bit as I don’t use heaters. This is the type of thing I always do. So is Hubby right am I nuts :)

  • I have seen neighbours water their gardens in the middle of pouring rain . Maybe that was the reason for doing so , but everyone has a reason don’t they otherwise we won’t do what we do irrespective of what others think

  • My husband has always thought I was a bit mad and I too have done what you have written about. They might as well be on the line as opposed to going smelly in the basket and need to be washed again. Thats logical I recon!

  • I’ve never hung clothes out in the rain before, I’ve always run out to bring them in to put in the dryer, maybe next time I won’t.

  • I have never heard of someone putting washing out in the rain, it does seem to defeat the purpose, but I understand the use of the dryer to warm the house, we do that too with the oven at times, let the heat come into the home

  • If you’re reliant on tank water, what you did makes perfect sense. Nothing quite so good as a rinse of rain water to make clothes really clean and fresh. Nuts? No, I’d say sensible.

  • Never thought of using the rain as a rinse for clothes! Done it with the car though!

  • Does it not get more difficult to dry as it gets wetter without the spin cycle.
