Hello!

Today I packed up the Christmas decorations and pulled down the Christmas tree. I always feel sad packing it away because I always get so much joy seeing it up. We have had a long running tradition in our family where the girls in the family give each other a Christmas decoration each year. I also give my kids a Christmas decoration each year that I hand make (I’m a bit of a crafty person).

My only problem is that now my kids are getting older (4 and 6), they want to help decorate the tree more.I hate to admit it, even though I would love them to help I can bring myself to letting them actually put the decorations ON the tree. The problem is that many of the collectible decorations I have are glass or breakable. My other problem is that i have yo get the tree looking just right and cant let go of creative control….terrible!

Well today I had a brainwave. I’m sure some of you probably already do this and are just rolling your eyes but next Christmas we are going to have TWO trees. One in the lounge that I will decorate with a little help and a second tree in the playroom/ family room that they can do all on their own. I will let them put on decorations, tinsel, lights and everything and I won’t (well ill try my hardest) to just let them do it all.

So tomorrow, with the Christmas trees on clearance with tinsel and lights, I am hitting the shops to get the kids their own tree!

  • Two trees! One for mum, one for the kids.

  • I’m so glad my little one is still too little to decorate the tree because I love decorating the tree but I will definitely have a small one that she can decorate in the future

  • With all my children grown up & spending the day at my mothers we didn’t bother with a tree, awful I know however, we have our reasons being illnesses, I did want to but it was last priority :)
