Inspired by the story about texting acronyms/abbreviations

It was great to read the recent article on texting abbreviations that every parent should know. There were some that I have come across online, and used by adults that I am still in the dark about. You could spend all day googling and finding out the meaning of every abbreviation (and there seems to be a new one every day), but I thought it would be more fun if we each put one in the comments section that we have come across, so that we can teach each other and all stay in the loop. I often feel quite perplexed online when I read another person’s commentary, and then at the end of it there is a text abbreviation and I have no idea what it means. Not knowing the meaning of the abbreviation at the end is hard, because it can change the meaning of the commentary i.e if sarcasm is intended etc. If each of us pops an abbreviation down they have come across, it may help those of us that are less in the loop

PMSL – piss myself laughing. TMI – too much information. BBL – be back later. TGIF – thank god it’s Friday. TTFN – ta ta for now. So many more. It’s making spelling really hard for our kids cos all they use is abbreviations

So many acronyms and abbreviations out there these days, hard to keep track of all of them.

The mostuzzling acronym I encountered was from my niece…..at the end of her SMEs she wrote MWA. I deliberated over this for ages as I was determined to embrace this new language but in the end I still had no idea and had to ring her and ask. She laughed as all teenagers do and it turned out she was blowing me a kiss. MWA is the noise you make!!! Who would of thought. Not me!

I get confused with a lot of acronyms my partner messaged me say idk I thought it meant I don’t care but it’s o don’t know lol

  Isn’t it funny, that with all of these acronyms that each person has possibly a different interpretation of what it could mean.

yes well i have come across a abb’ that isn’t very nice to say about a female. I will not feel the need to repeat it here but i am seeing it a lot more.

An abbreviation that had me puzzled was MWA. I had no idea and it was driving me mad. I ended up ringing the person who sent it and it was the sound you make when you blow a kiss……I never would of guessed!!!

  I use LOL for laugh out loud, but had someone ask-why do you use LOL? her meaning/understanding is lots of love!
