I would love to learn how to become a graphic designer or something similar to that is it too late to start something at the ripe old age of 61. As I am now a empty nester and have just lost my dad this year and I am finding I am getting so bored and lonely now so where do I start any idea would be great thank you

  • I think it’s a good idea to keep learning. The only thing that puts me off is the cost of education and no guarantee that you’ll find a job afterwards. I guess everyone’s situation is different, and maybe for you it is worth enrolling in something and not worrying about the debt yet. But I’m not so sure that being older is going to make starting out easier. It probably depends on the jobs where you are, or what you can do remotely. I’ve enjoyed a few free courses on websites like ‘coursera’ where you can select courses from various institutions to get a feel for topics. Perhaps this is a starting point and stepping stone to something more. I like the companies that give you internships and then allow you to study the skills they want at the same time; because at least you have a job after!
