So the other day my daughter and I (she is 6 now) we’re making sure all the dvds were in the right cases, as we wanted to watch one and it wasn’t in the box. As we were putting the dvd’s away my little girls hands me one and says “this one we got on the Gold Coast.” I looked and said “oh is it”? She replies “yes remember we had to run away from Daddy because he choked you”! My mouth just dropped open, she was three when we this happened.

I admit I in an abusive relationship, and one day I had enough, I did not want my daughter to marry a man similar to her father nor did I want my son growing up thinking thats how you treat women, so the only way out was to run away, as he would never allow us just to leave. We have been away and safe now for three years, but I can not believe that my baby remembers… I pray this does not affect her in life!

A cousin of mine aged a little over 2 y.o. remembed the details of an outing over 2 1/2 years later – every little detail – even where we all sat and every other little detail – thankfully it was a happy occasion, not a tragic one like yours – the only thing she had wrong was the location, but I don’t think she had been to that particular place before. She did name a place where the same sport was played though. I remember her Grandma saying to the Dad that she hoped she remebered things as well as that when she went to school. She is now about 40 and remembers some of it.

Oh wow!! That is certainly an insight!! I certainly hope your daughter does escape the cycle… GOOD ON YOU!!! For finding a better life for yourself and your daughter =) I do not know you, but I am very proud of you!
