Hello!

My son has Spina Bifida and as a result, I have great anxiety surrounding his health.
Recently we attended the children’s hospital ED for some concerns that we had about his demeanour and lower limb movement, we called the SB team and they told us to go there.
After all the tests and the doctors being happy with him (YAY) the ED dr, proceeded to tell me that I wasted resources by taking him there (if it was major, it could paralyse him or worse) and wanted to give me an info sheet on PURPLE crying.

Anyway, has anyone else ever been left feeling like an idiot after just trying to do the right thing by your baby?

  • Ohh mumma I’m so sorry this happened to you! The health system is really going down hill at the moment. I think sometimes they have been doing the job so long they forget that a little empathy and compassion can go a long way! Never ever let them tell you, you are wasting resources, if you think something might be wrong it’s always worth getting it checked.

  • Yes there are some Doctors with so much compassion and there are some with none I took my 6 month old daughter to the emergency dept at a children’s hospital to be bascially told that why could you let your daughter get this sick
