By now I’m sure all the mums would have noticed that when you make a response to a topic it no longer says if you have reached the limit on the topic. Hopefully this will stop some of the cutting and pasting that some mums allege is going on as people won’t want to waste their time cutting and pasting if they aren’t sure whether on not they have already done so and won’t get the points. I’m glad MoM has changed the format and I hope this keeps everyone happy, as some of the cutting and pasting posts in Real Stories were drawing out some cutting remarks from people, which doesn’t add to the enjoyment of the site.

  • Must have been before my time. I quite enjoy other peoples thoughts and opinions.

  • I love commenting where I feel I can relate in some way, loving MoMs format on the site lately, easier to browse etc.

  • I comment my way and not bothered how others comment. I don’t have the time to read back through all the comments on all the stories.

  • For me, MoM are great website to visit no matter with the format.

  • thre is still a lot of copying and pasting going on, it is amazing how some think the same thing said over and over again will not be noticed

  • I don’t mind it either way, this is a great site to visit…

  • This must have happened prior to me joining the site.

  • Yes I think you and I both said that last time there were heaps of stories about cutting and pasting. The main problem is the bitchiness or tension it creates and takes away from the sheer enjoyment of the site.

  • maybe it is just me but the pages seem to be loading faster which I like

  • I enjoy reading other MOMs comments, isn’t that the whole point of this site. We can learn from each, support each other and feel connected.

    • I agree; I enjoy reading others opinions; even if they differ from mine.

  • I think its a good idea, tho I did enjoy reading other peoples responses and get Ideas from them, but at least this way it will stop the bitchiness

  • I have noticed the changes too but thought they were worse. I like to see the comments others have made before posting my own and preferred when these were the first thing you saw rather than the post a comment tab. Each to their own, I suppose.

  • I’ve only recently started looking at stories, answers and all the other stuff on the site. I’m ashamed to admit that, until recently, I’d mostly only checked the site for competitions and recipes. Due to some health issues in the past week or two, I’ve been pretty much stuck at home doing almost nothing, which was driving me crazy. So I started looking in much more detail at the site, and I’m loving what I’ve found. Maybe I’m naive, but I can’t understand people who don’t use something in the spirit or manner that it’s meant to be used. I love sharing recipes, asking for help, answering other people’s questions, reading stories, giving advice, and every day I discover more that I love about MoM. I don’t know what it was like here before the changes you mention, but I find it user-friendly now. I guess it’s like a lot of things, that a few people can spoil things for the majority. I wouldn’t waste my time cutting & pasting answers for points, to me they’re a bonus for, and not the point of, posting stuff.

  • I’d have to say I hadn’t actually noticed this until I read your story. I’d like to think I do my best to write original comments although sometimes it might be that you only want to say a thanks for sharing comment. I do enjoy reading the more lengthy comments the MOM readers put on recipes or their stories though.

  • I get annoyed when people put ” you have some great answers here”
Just so they get points, if you don’t have anything good or helpful to say then don’t say anything at all.
    I’m glad it’s changed.

  • I’ve noticed the changes and it’s taking a bit of getting used to. Hopefully it’s going to deter the cut and pasters. I love reading the constructive comments from all the MoMs and it certainly is very annoying when you keep reading the same comments over and over.

  • I have noticed the changes and it does take longer to check things out but I am unsure if it will stop the people you are targeting from doing what they do. Some one also put that it uses your real name or first name well that bit does not worry me but I do think of those whom have put some very detailed and personal problems out there when it was the old way if they would now … just a thought

  • Yes I noticed that as well actually. Although for me I have my real name as part of my username, so it doesn’t really affect me that much. If you wanted anonymity though, I could see how some people may not like this change.
