Pregnancy diary
Week three…
My friends know that this week I might start feeling the first signs of pregnancy… True to form my boobs are sore, then the next day, I’m nauseous. I do the test and sure enough there is two lines!!
Week four…
Told our parents, but keeping it under wraps until 12 weeks. All day sickness is back and the dry biscuits are out! Finding it harder to get energized but will need that energy with my 14 month old cyclone!
Week five…
Fatigue has hit hard, had my first blood tests done, still feeling sick all through the day and my boobs are so sore! Checked my weight to see how much I gain, only 6 kilos last time… Here’s hoping!!
Week six…
My mother’s group now knows my secret, it’s good to talk to them but not to the whole world yet. Half way to the safer point… Bring on the second trimester! Thank goodness for my husband, he has really stepped up and chelps clean and look after my 14 month old.
Week seven…
Struggling so bad today with my emotions, my 15month old’s sleep patterns are changing and she is going through a dummy attachment phase (I hope!!) and I’m not coping. Talked it out with hubby and my girlfriends, just got to get through the hormonal stage! Don’t sweat the small stuff!!
Week eight…
Having up and down days this week, counting down till the magical moment of our ultrasound! I’m inviting my mum to come along with me. Still feeling so tired, and emotional, trying to be organized but some days it’s two minute noodles for dinner!
You are a wonderful woman, so strong, so smart. You should be so proud of yourself.
Week nine…
Ultrasound is booked in, both mums invited to come along this time. Still exhausted, my bedtime is getting earlier! I’m waking up during the night already, it really does happen faster the second time! Looking forward to being able to share the news with everyone soon.
Week ten…
I’m feeling slightly more organized this week, been eating breakfast which has really helped, although I have lunch at around 10:30am anyway!! Loving the fact that I’m starting not to feel sick, still have sore boobs and certain foods still turn me off!
Week eleven…
Only a couple of days till the ultrasound! Finally! I can’t wait to see my precious bundle and to share that moment with my husband, little girl and both our mums! And to announcing it to the world! Once we have the go ahead it’s time to start thinking about the nursery.
Week twelve…
We had our ultrasound this week and finally told the world our secret! I’m still feeling sick and tired but have a couple of mini holidays planned for the next couple of weeks so looking forward to it! My husband thinks definitely a boy this time! I can’t wait to get stuck into the nursery this week!
Week thirteen…
I can’t believe how different this pregnancy is to my first, all the signs come around so much earlier, I’m having trouble sleeping already, I can feel the baby move, and I’m so much more aware of what my body is doing. Starting to think I’m entering the honeymoon phase! Off to Canberra next weekend for a trip away with the girls (no bubs!) should be a fantastic weekend!
Week fourteen…
I’m definitely in the honeymoon phase now (hurray!) still tired but so much less. My emotions have been haywire the last couple of days but hopefully that doesn’t last too long! Starting to show already, although I have been told that only I can notice it!!
Week fifteen…
Visiting friends in Melbourne this weekend, feeling good, a bit tired, and emotional, thinking I might start a course (distance) through tafe so I can keep up with the world. Looking forward to the next scan and getting to the halfway mark!
Week sixteen…
Feeling the baby move so much more, much bigger flutters now! Also have quite a lot of lower muscle strain and I can feel it when I bend and get up. Will have to get into shape as the warmer weather starts to come in. Having a weekend relaxing at home with friends and family. lifting my 17 month is getting harder each day!
Week seventeen…
Found out my placenta is low yesterday, so rest, no heavy lifting and no strenuous exercise for me, hopefully at the 20 week scan it has moved. Bit scary being told if I have any bleeding to go straight to the hospital. I didn’t have any complications with Chloe, so I was blissfully unaware until the other day. If it hasn’t moved I’ll be out of the midwife program. All the family has been sick this week, with the flu and I’ve had gastro as well. Hopefully next week will be better.
Week eighteen…
Turns out the three of us had chest infections, but we are now all on the mend. Feeling more than 18 weeks pregnant this week, but still have 22 weeks to go! Feeling muscle strain and back pain quite often. Hoping the next two weeks till the ultrasound go fast and my placenta has moved so I can get fit and keep healthy!
Week nineteen…
Started to get leg cramps in bed this week, they happened last time with Chloe as well, and I’m noticing that I can’t do as much as normal, (I still try though!) I’m starting to look noticeably pregnant now in tight tops which is great! Hoping this week flies so I can see our bub again!
Week twenty…
Ultrasound was great, the placenta has moved slightly which is a good start, and was a magical time for Adam and I to watch our wriggly bub on the screen. Experiencing heartburn for the first time tonight as I write this at 12:46am :(. I’m unused to feeling this and it isn’t pleasant. Adam is on holidays for two weeks so sanding and setting up my 18month olds bed and getting her ready for the transfer before bub arrives!
Week twenty-one…
Just saw the doctor, and I’m booked in for a specialist appointment as she is concerned about my placenta. I’m trying not to think about the placenta but it’s in the back of my mind and it’s a bit scary. Heartburn is on the rise but I’m feeling bub kick lots so it balances it out. Seeing a gorgeous friend of mine tomorrow and she is four weeks behind me! I’m glad Adam is on holidays, as it’s good to have a hand and to spend some time together!
Week twenty-two…
Off to Melbourne this weekend, for a family trip. Feeling pins and needles quite often and getting those mysterious leg jerks in the midlle of the night when I’m in bed! I’m enjoying the family time while my husband is on holidays and Chloe and I start playgroup next week so that will be great!loving feeling the baby move so much, although mysteriously stops when dad puts his hand on my tummy!
Week twenty-three…
First day at play group and Chloe gets tired and cranky as her nap time is in the middle and misbehaves, I have a mini meltdown as she chucks a tantrum and tips out a bowl of popcorn everywhere! Then my body fails me as I walk home and even with a break I can’t make it. Struggling to stay positive today but I realize it is just my hormones! Since I can’t walk far I’ve decided to see if swimming will be better for me once Chloe is in bed at night. Hopefully the rest of the week isn’t this hormonal!
Week twenty-four…
Been busy nesting this week and my house is loving me for it! So is my husband! Had a better play group this week, I took clues from Chloe and left when we needed too. I have two great friends having babies close to me, one in march and then may, I can’t wait! Got excepted onto my course as well, part of me thinks I’m crazy to take it on but the other part says go for it what’s to lose? Looking forward to the weekend, BBQ with friends and then work on Sunday. Just started to get some Braxton hicks, an really feel the tightening!
Week twenty-five…
Feeling pretty tired this week, just found out my sister in law is expecting as well! Only 11 weeks behind me, our bubs will be close. I’ve been waking up at around 5am tossing and turning, already so uncomfy! Went to my gp, she is great, completely reassured me about my placenta and low blood pressure, it’s great finding a fantastic doctor!
Week twenty- six…
Wow, that week flew by, Chloe has entered the terrible twos, five months early! I’ve been feeling pretty good, been having some warm baths to relieve some tension around my tummy at nighttime. And the pillow between the legs is working too! Lots of needles next week, I have my glucose test and anti-D needle.
Week twenty- seven…
Having my glucose test today, the drink is more sugary than I remembered and I’m so hungry! Only one needle to go though! I’m feeling more and more movement this week, think bub is running put of room! I’m starting to get into count down mode but not until ten weeks! Phew! I’m glad that test is done, it knocked me out for the day, luckily my 19 month old was as good as gold!
Week twenty- eight…
It’s my birthday this weekend, looking forward to not having to do anything!! And then I’m working the next day, which is great. Lots of anniversaries this week so lots of dinners out! The bub doesn’t have much ATM, so I’m feeling lots of big movements! Chloe and I have colds, she is still sleeping through (thank goodness) me not so much, luckily its mostly a nighttime cold.I’m very low in iron, so lots of steak, leafy veg and tablets for me.
Week twenty- nine…
Got so spoilt by my friends and family last weekend, and went to a friends wedding this weekend. I’ve double my iron dosage and I’m off to Sydney next weekend for a surprise baby shower for one of my good friends. Lots of leg cramps and tossing and turning this week.soon to be in single digits!
Week thirty…
Wow only ten weeks to go! It’s been so hot this week and I’ve had a sick little girl who has been waking up at 5am. I can’t wait for my Sydney trip! Bub is hiccuping lots and is always on the move! Gastro has struck us all down this week, I’ve lost 1.5kgs, and I have to say this pregnancy is completely different from my first and I will be counting down the weeks this time until my body is my own again!
Week thirty-one…
Starting to count down now and to wash all bubs clothes. I wonder what we are having? Our ultrasound is next Thursday and I can’t wait to see if my placenta has moved. We have our mother’s group Xmas party on tomorrow, down at the park, Chloe will love it! Looking forward to Xmas and chloe’s face as she experiences it again!
Week thirty-two…
Had my ultrasound on thursday, bub is head down ready to go! So relieved, plus my placenta has moved 5 more centimeters so I’m hopeful of a natural birth. Will confirm with the doctors and midwives next week. Only 5 more working days for hubby, then holidays! Can’t wait!
Week thirty-three…
Thank goodness for holidays! This heat is torture, add a teething little girl to the mix and it means very long days! Very excited, natural birth is on the cards which is such a relief! Looking forward to a hopefully quiet Xmas! Feeling Braxton hicks a lot, I’m very stiff and sore. On more antibiotics so hopefully they clear everything up. Merry Xmas!
Week thirty-four…
I’m over eye teeth! My poor bub has been teething for weeks with no end in sight. Christmas was great, pretty quiet which was what we needed. No plans for new years, we have both decided to spend the time together and relax. Off next Thursday to cape conran for a week with 6 adults and 5 kids! Should be great except for the six hour drive, including a mountain!
Week thirty-five…
Currently at cape conran, the heat is not my friend and I’m feeling very tired this week. Still no teeth for Chloe but she has been coping ok, her cousins are distracting her. I’m not sleeping well, and I’m napping when Chloe does otherwise I pass out on the couch! Heartburn is here and I’m snacking like crazy!!
Week thirty-six…
Loved our holiday but glad to be home. Nesting like crazy and have set up chloe’s big girl room. Heartburn and not being able to breathe are not my friends and the feelings of tightness has increased. We were going to take chloe’s dummy when we moved her to her big girl room but have decided to leave it for now and tackle it down the track (in the hope she outgrows it herself). Have been craving strawberry milk and hamburgers!! Bags are packed ready to go!
Week thirty- seven…
Still madly cleaning this week, car seats have been turned and new ones have been put in, and the cot has been lowered. I’m measuring well, but sleeping is getting harder.
Week thirty-eight…
Rough week this week, with my uncle dying and my grandfather in hospital. Feeling a bit down, cleaning helps me unwind though. Ad and mum have been a great support. Weekly visits with the midwife now, all is going well. Experiencing lots of back and lower pain, baths are pretty constant as are the heat packs now! I’m up around 3-4 times a night.
Week thirty-nine…
Even though I’ve done it before the thought of labour again is scary! I have my birth plan and I’m sure like last time, once I’m in labour it will all happen naturally again. Babies head is very low now and feeling lots of twinges ATM.
Had Adam at the hospital today because his face swelled up, no idea what caused it but thankfully it has receded, very worrying.
Week forty…
Wow made it to my due date! Bub feels pretty comfortable and not likely to move for awhile, but because I went into spontaneous labour last time, every twinge feels like it could be something!! It’s 9:16pm on Saturday and Adam feels like he is going to swell up again, not good. Luckily nothing comes of it, but on the Monday he has severe heartburn and stays home. At 12am on the Tuesday my waters break…
Ryan James was born at 5:10am, tuesday morning, weighing 3.3kgs, 50cms length and 33cms in head diameter, he is gorgeous, but I have a fourth degree tear and have to go to theatre.
