Hello!

So im a little worried i have organised a fun party for my boy Harley to keep him and his little friends busy but have had no response from any parents about their children attending, im worried there wont be many little kids at it as i haven’t been in a mothers group since the group broke up and he only really see’s his cousin’s to play with even tho i have taken him to other kids parties, their parents don’t seem keen to bring them to his. It saddens me as i know my boy is such an amazing sweet child but i feel everyone jumps to conclusions with him because he is so cheeky and active. Not sure if i should cancel it or not closer to the date as at the moment i only have two definite yes’s :(

  • I have found that people often just turn up without RSVPing.

  • I hope it all worked out o.k. on the day. I would definitely have gone ahead with the party, regardless of how many people rsvp’d. I’ve done it before, and there’s always a few that show up that didn’t rsvp, but I always made sure that there were plenty of family members there, just in case. As long as whoever’s there makes a fuss of the birthday child, that’s what they’ll remember.

  • I am rotten at RSVPing – I add the event on my calendar but always forget to send the RSVP. There is no harm in follow up messages just to confirm numbers.

  • I imagine by now you are feeling better like I was when I had the same thing happen. I catered at the bowling alley to only a certain amount of guests but then quite a few arrived that hadn’t RSVP.

  • no matter how many parties i have thrown for my kids i am amazed at how many people do not RSVP. i say go ahead and enjoy the day no matter what! Your little boy will just have fun and he won’t be counting how many people are there.

  • Well at least you made an effort! Don’t worry and think positive!

  • Awww… why cancel?! All he needs is his parents there to have fun with him! 2 is plenty! :P

  • I wouldn’t cancel. It doesn’t matter how many friends turn up! 2 is plenty enough! My daughter only had two friends invited to her 5th and they all had a great time. My daughter also did not get invited to parties too….very active too! Most likely that the other parents just don’t know how to take an obviously bright child! Have a great time at your son’s 2nd birthday! I know he will too!

  • Could you perhaps text/call/email the parents and say that you are just working on the catering/doing the goody bags and was wondering if they could make it? We’ve just had a party and most people didn’t bother to RSVP. Some showed up and some didn’t. I don’t understand that mentality. I hope your son enjoys his day – it doesn’t really matter how many people there are because the ones that are there are the ones that matter.
