I am wondering if anyone does mystery shopping? Who do you go through and is it worth it? Looking to do it on the side (I do work nearly full time too).

  • I have sometimes gotten emails inviting me to sign up, but I’m too suss to actually sign up. You need to be do careful with computer stuff

  • I have registered myself but haven’t done any so far because the payment is too low, it is not worth the work plus the drive to get just few $.

  • A friend of mine works in a supermarket and basically she just sees them comparing prices and looking at the customer service side of things . She always says it doesn’t look like a hard job , but I don’t know how many shops they have to visit so maybe ask about that part .

    • That means they are recording the oppositions prices and undercutting? Does the person who seen this happening realise jobs could be in jeopardy. She is supposed to be a loyal employee to the supermarket she works for. Sometimes salespeople take photos of their display done for special promotion for proof.

  • I’ve found it’s not really worth it if you’re after the money. It’s a bit of fun sometimes, depending on what you’re doing, but you rarely earn much.

  • I’ve heard too many horror stories about mystery shoppers not getting paid, or having to travel miles out of their way. I’d rather do a few surveys on-line, at times of the day/night that suits me. The points soon add up, and you can get gift cards every few weeks that help to stretch the shopping dollar.

    • I keep meaning to look into doing surveys.

    • The checklists can be pretty in depth. The pay isn’t too crash hot either.

  • I have been told it is not worth it as well, by the time you pay for travel you don’t really have much left.

  • I think doing surveys online would be more of a benefit as with mystery shopping the rewards aren’t as big and as frequent either.

  • I tried mystery shopping. I didn’t find the incentives all that good at all. I would stick to market research sites and survey sites. They pay way better.

  • I work for a few companies and take assignments when in free and suit me, always get paid, most companies are classed as hobbies so tax free only selected few are taxed but most times you never hit the tax amount so great pocket money and free products to try. Shopping angels is the best.

  • I’ve tried this, and you rarely get paid even enough to cover your expenses (like transport).

  • I’ve looked into it in the past and it seems you don’t get paid that well compared to the amount of time needed to complete the tasks. That’s why I never took it up.
