Hello!

Last year I was able to host a get together to donate ponytails to the Beautiful Lengths program. We were sent a very generous large box of products including shampoos, creams, oils, colours etc and asked to donate ponytails if possible to be made into free wigs for cancer patients in Australia. I couldn’t donate my own hair, it was much too short, but I thought I could certainly ask around.

I sent flyers and requests to every hairdresser in the area asking if they could donate some time and their skills for this charity program. I was very disappointed with the response, I hope they at least put my flyer on their window. Anyhow, to make a long story short I was able to have a community hall for the day, 2 hairdressers helped out and we were able to donate 14 ponytails to be made into wigs.

Pantene has put the word out again to consider donating your hair and I encourage anyone with long, undyed hair to seriously think about whether they would like to post off their locks or not to benefit others going through a terrible sickness. Who knows? We might be the recipient of one ourselves in the future. Hopefully not. For more information search Beautiful Lengths.

  • Wow what a great charity! If my hair wasn’t coloured I would definitely donate my hair. I have had 2 family members lose their hair to cancer, not a nice thing to see

  • This sounds like a wonderful program.

  • I wanted to do this but couldn’t because my hair is coloured.

  • It’s an awesome program. I think it’s a shame that more hairdressers aren’t on board. It would be an easy cause for them to promote and donate from their salons.

  • This is great, I have never heard of this. My hair is not great & it is dyed.

  • Every year I want to do this, but my hair is just so fine it breaks so easily and I can’t get it to grow. Maybe next year.
