Hello!

I am a little sick of people commenting on the size of my Bub.

My boy is 5 and a half months old and weights about 9kg, he is a healthy looking Bub and falls in the high percentile but was born 4.3kg and 55cms long so he is in proportion.

I had a lady today approach and say ‘what a gorgeous boy, how old 10 months?’, I said no 5 and a half months and her jaw dropped and she commented saying he is huge, I said he was a healthy boy and left it at that.

I also had a lady say when I was giving him a bottle one day that he didn’t need it as he was big enough.

When are people going to keep their opinions to themselves and bite their tongues as I am not a rude person and don’t often speak my mind but I don’t think I am going to help myself next time lol!

  • Some people can be so rude! (Sometimes without even realising it)
All babies grow at different rates, as long as baby is happy and healthy, other people’s opinions are not needed.

  • I think people don’t realise how rude they sound.

    • Quite right – some people have no idea!

  • Incredible that people dare to say such things to strangers. Or familiar people for what that matters!!

  • All of mine were chubby while being breastfed even before I introduced solids. When they started running around they gradually lost the weight. Now htey are old enough they play a lot of sport and look as though I don’t feed them enough. Believe me they eat a lot, sometimes I think they have hollow legs (an old family saying) they are tall for their age and skinny. None of them like junk food which is good, except when we are away on holidays, have been on the road for a few days and there isn’t a lot of options in some small towns.

  • Best to ignore these comments or tell them to mind their own business. It is bad manners to comment on anyone else’s appearance and why would anyone – baffles me! Enjoy your little one and try not to let it bother you. :)

  • I was the same with my daughter. I had one person who continually asked me ‘what are you feeding her, elephant milk?’ That was so rude! I ended up losing it at him

  • I Understand i have a kid thats nearly four years old but a two year old is the same height as he is,, Some kids are very tall for their age.. some are very thin others have a little weight… others are short.. he is currently in three year old kinder and the kids tower over him due to his height people are shocked i havent kept him back a year..and put him in next year instead.. As long as a kid is feed any healthy thats the most important thing.. Everything evens out in the end how rude of people to be shocked. Beautiful kids come in all different ways.. There should be no Judgement…
