Hello!

It amazed me how many mums wanted to share the painful and horrible recollections of their child births. Why is this? Along with the media’s representation of modern births, these stories contribute considerably to the tremendous fear women having going into the birth of their first (and often subsequent) child.

I was no different, with my first pregnancy at 35 and via IVF I was told my odds of a non-intervention vaginal birth were low! Puts you in a great mindset.

Due to a low lying placenta and some pre-existing bladder/bowel issues I seriously considered, at my doctor’s recommendation, a c-section but am so incredibly glad I decided to have an unassisted vaginal birth for both children.

I decided to do a Calm Birthing course and am so thankful I did. I strongly recommend this or similar course for all pregnant women. Gave me such confidence and knowledge that my body was made to do this. Given my mum had 3 straight forward births and my father is one of 9 children with 5 sisters who have all birthed well, you would think I would know this but the fear creeps in to us all at some level.

Going into the birth calm and staying that way, and not becoming tense and fearful was the key for me.
