Rip off tradesman - Real Mum story on MoM

Well on the weekend i had some work completed on my home, yep i guess i should of known better as its not the first time ive gotton ripped off or a tradesman has tried to rip me off.
I guess ill jump straight to the point. first of all always get a written quote, second of all it does not hurt to have video survellience. Upon completion of a verbal job, the tradesman i employed decided to put up his hourly rate further more he complained about earning enough money to feed his family and also the ammount of money he spent on fuel to get to work. his price went up three times in an hour and its unfortunate that because of people like this the building industry sucks, and women like myself that are vonerable like me pay the price. i do feel sorry for the guys wife that is how i met the couple, and good luck to them both as i believe in kALMA. ps never pay until work is completed.

Everyone at some time has a bad experience and it makes you very careful and cautious second time round.

Totally agree with you, Always get a Quote and try never to do business with friends without one (even if it isnt a legally binding one as you have proof of a agreed price).. It can save a friendship. Usually friends will give you a good quote if they can (mates rates) Quotes should also last at least a month for a good tradie.. We all need to take care of our families.. Not just tradies.. Karma will bite this guy on the butt one day i am sure of it.. But Karma hopefully one day soon will help you break even in some weird way.. Goodluck

I’m sorry for the bad experience you had. Better being careful indeed. And if possible avoid to call tradies during the weekend, when they ask you exorbitant prices.
