Hello!

School is back and please slow down! I am surprised at how many people are speeding in their cars through school zones. Our children are precious and we all need to take care in these zones.

  • Yes, agreed. I also notice how many parents of children at our school speed because they’re running late or to get a carpark. Crazy. It’s a few minutes. I think they just forget that children are so fragile!

  • People forget that kids aren\’t always careful around cars – so we have to watch out for them.

  • I wish ‘Lollypop’ People still worked on pedestrian crossings. It is reassuring to have an adult at crossings. Cars do slow down!

    • Some schools in SA still have lollipops. the monitors are usually year 6 or 7 pupils. Some are supervised by an adult. Yes, Mums of pupils are often the worst.
I have also observed they are also the worst speeding through the local streets on their way either to take their children to school, probably going home and doing the reverse in the afternoon. They often don’t stop at stop signs or indicate when turning a corners, especially at T-Junctions. Some of them drive in the middle of the road at corners so it is difficult to know if they are going to go left or right. It is hard when there is a school in one direction and a childcare/kindergarten in the other one.

  • This is such a great reminder! So far, I have seen great respect for the speed limits – but I know that is unfortunately, pretty exceptional.

    • Glad to hear it! Sadly I have seen lots of speeding – let’s hope people slow down.
