Hello!

as with almost everything, after you have a good sleep, you get distance and clarity about things. so this is just an up-date aot what i think now- my evolution of thought.

so i understand that it is sooo easy to swear and it does feel good to say a swear word but only when the kids aren’t listening! i realise that i would just be punishing my child who was exposed to swearing, even though it wasn’t their fault and also my child doesn’t realize the meaning of the word but rather thinks that this is a word that provokes a reaction every time. i am starting to think though that at least i can use the situation as a learning tool about the correct way to speak in public.

Leave a comment on how you deal with inappropriate language and what age were your children when they said their first naughty word

  • Both my husband and I don’t swear thankfully and I haven’t had to worry about the kids coming out with anything yet, Thankfully!

  • My girls have been taught swear words are for adults only and they can do it when they are 18. If they feel they have to swear, they’re allowed to in their bedroom, by themselves where no one can hear.

  • I didn’t want to make a big del of it with my five year old, so I just said that some words were really for grown ups, not kids. I’ve heard a couple of muttered “damns!”, which are my fault!
