Hello!

What i have realised this past year is that going back to work after i felt confident enough to leave my daughter behind was not as easy as i though it would have been. The fact that i have tertiary education and 2 1/2 years of experience in my field (nursing) is not enough. You may think that in nursing, of course there is job vacancies everywhere, and there is, but not something that suits my family and my experience. My struggle to find an adequate job for myself stems from the fact that a lot of job openings ask for 3+ and even 5+ years of experience. The other factor is that at this stage in our lives, the in-laws and my parents all work full time, as well as my husband, who needs to be away for work for a week at a time. So i need to be available to drop off my daughter and pick her up at the end of the day from childcare.

My daughter started going to childcare when she was about 5 months. The plan was that i would go back to work after a year off. During this time, i had the chance to do some soul searching, and decided to try my skills elsewhere. I enrolled myself in a hairdressing course, which i enjoyed and completed with flying colours, I even worked at a hairdressing salon. The problem was that pay was way too low for our commitments and I lost a lot of time with my family, in particular my daughter. Even though i loved hairdressing, I decided to leave.

So my next step was to re register as a nurse and quickly find a suitable job and start earning money. it has been over 2 years now, my daughter is 3 in October and i still have not been able to find a suitable job. I have not lost hopes at all. I know that once i do find a job that suits, that it will be work the wait. In the mean time, here i am, taking part in Online surveys and other websites trying to make money other ways.

Does anyone find themselves in a similar situation?
